ROB NUGENT - President

Detective Rob Nugent joined the NYPD in January of 2005 and is currently assigned to the Intelligence Division. Previously, he has worked in the Chief of Department's Office, CityWide Vandals Task Force and the Transit Bureau. He was promoted to Detective Investigator in 2016 and again in October 2022 to Detective Second Grade. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Science from Long Island University-Brooklyn. He has previously held the positions of Vice President and Director of Fundraising, and has been instrumental in expanding the Brotherhood’s reach while engaging with members and the corporate community. His focus is on growing membership throughout the Department. He urges members of the Department to sign up and travel on a funeral deployment. “It is a humbling experience and one everyone should experience during their career”.

JASON MARSMAN - Vice President

Police Officer Jason Marsman joined the NYPD in January of 2005 and has spent most of his career assigned to the 77th Precinct where he currently serves as the command’s Auxiliary Coordinator and Digital Communication Officer. As a charter member of Brotherhood, he has served as a Precinct Delegate and Travel Secretary before being elected as Vice President. With a focus on expanding Brotherhood’s reach, he looks forward to working with the board to grow our membership and build upon our relationships with other organizations, both internal and external to the department.

Kevin Donnellan

KEVIN DONNELLAN - Treasurer

Sergeant Kevin Donnellan joined the NYPD in July 2006. He was promoted to detective in 2013 and sergeant in 2014. He has worked in the 60, TARU, and 72, where he now assigned as the crime analysis sergeant. Kevin boasts a M.B.A. from Wagner College and B.A. from the State University of New York. He is also actively involved in the Emerald Society and has been on the board of Brotherhood for the Fallen since its inception.

DAN STAPLE - Secretary

Detective Dan Staple is currently assigned to the 42 Precinct Detective Squad after working for 15 years at PSA7. He has been a dedicated member of Brotherhood for the Fallen since 2015, volunteering to recruit new members since 2019 and most recently becoming our Secretary in late 2021. He is married with three children an is an avid police patch collector, amassing 2,600 so far. Please reach out to him with any membership questions or issues at membership@brotherhoodnyc.org.

SHAH RAHMAN - Travel Secretary

Police Officer Shah Rahman joined the NYPD in July of 2016. He is currently assigned to the Transit Bureau Anti Terrorism Unit. Previously, he was assigned to Transit District 1. He has a B.S. in Criminal Justice, graduating Cum Laude from John Jay College and is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree. He is certified by the department in three languages and volunteers for Student Scholarship Program, mentoring two high school students. As the travel secretary, he has the most demanding job of our members. It requires last minute preparation to send members of the service to funerals across the nation. It requires coordination of air travel, hotels, and rental cars among our members and even the other chapters of the Brotherhood for the Fallen.

JAMES BORRUSO - Sergeant at Arms

Sergeant James Borusso is a co-founder and previous vice president of Brotherhood for the Fallen. James is curretly enjoying his most recent transfer…to retirement. Previously, he was assigned to 66th Precint and PSA 1. As a police officer, James served as a PBA Delegate. He has a B.S. in sociology and political science, graduating cum laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Before becoming the vice president, he was the travel secretary, dedicating 3 years to dealing with all the traveling logistics of the deployments.
